WHAT IS FOUR POINT LIGHTING?

four point lighting is a important to a film because it creates a visual mood, atmosphere and sense of meaning, the four types of lighting include:


  • back light

  • back light 2 (optional)

  • fill light

  • key light

the lighting is crucial as it tells the audience where to look, it reflects the psychology of characters and helps define and support the genre of the film.

fill lighting adds dimension and softens harsh shadows created by the key light.

KEY LIGHT
