I chose to analyse Wes Anderson because I really enjoy his films and I think they are very striking because of his directing technique and the aesthetic of them are rather unique.
the royal Tenenbaums - Wes Anderson, 2001
in "the royal Tenenbaums" the director, Wes Anderson, uses diegetic sound in a lot of his scenes, one example is when Margot Tenenbaum is in the bath and talking to her mother. there is no backing music and you can hear the sound of her moving in the bath water, along with the echo of the two of them speaking to each other in the tiled bathroom. This use of diegetic sound is striking because it is as if you are in the room because the background and ambient sound are not removed and further enhanced to create a calm effect.
